PESHAWAR, May 13: The Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited has completed work on optic fibre project between Peshawar-Charsadda-Mardan and the connectivity has been extended to all exchanges and stations, due to which traffic congestion has been reduced to a larger extent,

This was observed by PTCL Chairman Akhtar Ahmad Bajwa, while speaking at a meeting held here to review the operational and development activity of the company in the Frontier province, said a statement issued here on Monday.

He said the PTCL was taking revolutionary steps to introduce modern telecommunication facilities in the country and would ensure its service availability to the customers at their doorsteps. This will add to the pace of social and economic development in the country, he added.

GM NTR-1 Akarm Afridi informed the meeting that out of a target of 41,000 telephone lines in 2001-2002, the company had so far laid 31,000 lines.

He said that special arrangements had been made to provide new telephone connections in the region.

Afridi expressed the hope that shortfall in the revenue target would be met soon.

GM development Pervez Khan said that the extension of laying optical fiber between Mardan and Swat was under review.
