KARACHI, Jan 5: Fourth seed Nasir Mushtaq, losing finalist of ITF juniors event held here last year, powered his way into men’s singles semis registering a crushing 6-2, 6-2 victory over Mohammad Abdul Saeed in the Sindh ranking tennis championship at Southend Club on Monday.

The victory in quarters was preceded by triumph over Mohammad Nasim 6-1, 6-1 in pre quarter-finals earlier in the day.

Three other quarter-finals between top seed Jalil Khan and Syed Zuhair Raza; second seed Nomi Qamar and Danish Ahmed and third seed Yasir Khan and Hussain Aziz were in progress at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, three players namely Zuhair Raza, Abdul Rehman and Mustafa Zaidi moved into the juniors U-17 singles last four.

Zuhair was home 6-2, 6-3 against Nameer Shamsi, Rehman got the better of Rahmat Ali 6-1, 6-4 while Mustafa got a walkover against Hussain Aziz.

The boys U-15 singles has also reached the semi-final stage.

Juniors U-17 singles (quarter-finals):

Syed Zuhair Raza bt Nameer Shamsi 6-2, 6-3; Abdul Rehman bt Rahmat Ali 6-1, 6-4; Mustafa Zaidi walkover Husain Aziz.

Boys U-15 singles (quarter-finals):

Farhan Mustafa bt Azher Qureshi 6-0, 6-1; Uzair A. Qadir bt Talha Zubair 6-1, 6-1; Nameer Shamsi bt Sheryar Ahmed 6-2, 6-2.

Boys and girls U-13 singles:

Sanwal Memon bt Ammad Ali 8-3; Sheryar Hasnain bt Maheen Dada 8-3; Saud Shoaib bt Muaz Tariq 8-1.

Tuesday’s fixtures:

Men’s singles and juniors U-17 singles 10.00am; boys U-15 and boys U-13 singles 12.00noon; ladies singles and girls doubles 2.30pm.
