RAWALPINDI: Jan 5: Immigration staff deployed at Benazir Bhutto International Airport arrested five passengers at the weekend as they were trying to travel abroad using forged documents, an official of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said on Monday.

Muzaffar Hussain, a resident of Gujrat, was taken into custody on Sunday when authorities found his passport to be a forged one. Muzaffar was about to board a Gulf Air flight to Greece.

Another imposter Faryad Ali, a resident of Gujranwala district, was also offloaded from the Gulf Air flight and handed over to the FIA’s anti-human smuggling wing.

Shafiq Khan, an Afghan national, was taken off a Saudi Airlines flight, while another Afghan national, Qamar Ali Khan, was intercepted when his documents were found suspicious.

Noorul Basar, a resident of Swabi district, was arrested by the immigration staff after one page of his passport was found changed.

All the five men were handed over to the FIA’s anti-human smuggling wing for further investigation.
