Karachi, Jan 5: A proposal is being considered to levy a tax collected through one of the utility bills to help Radio Pakistan generate resources like PTV.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Syed Sumsam Ali Shah Bukhari, while speaking to the employees of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) at its Karachi centre at the Civic Centre on Monday.

The minister was of the view that the generation of resources would help bring about improvements in this strong medium of communications and would also resolve many of the problems currently being faced by PBC employees.

He recalled that at a recent meeting, the issue of the levy for the Radio Pakistan on the pattern of PTV was discussed. He said that the Director-General of Radio Pakistan, Murtaza Solangi, had already prepared a working paper for the resolution of the issues faced by the corporation. This, he added, would be discussed with the higher authorities in the next few days.

The minister also assured the management and the employees of the Radio Pakistan that concerted efforts would be made to resolve their issues.
