SUKKUR, Jan 4: The Sukkur City Taluka Council has ordered 13 builders to stop construction work on more than 50 high-rise buildings and warned of legal action against those who refuse to stop construction.
After collapse of Sajjad Plaza on Hussaini Road here on Dec 24, an experts team of the Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) had arrived in the city and checked more than 50 high-rise buildings under construction.
According to the taluka council authorities, work on these buildings would remain suspended till the submission of a report to Sindh government by the KBCA team.
The taluka officer, infrastructure, has said that notices have been issued to 13 builders to stop construction work and if they refused, then action against them would be taken, which include sealing of that premises.
Meanwhile, “B” section police Sukkur have registered a case against Sajjad Qureshi, who is said to be the owner of Sajjad Plaza, which had collapsed on December 24, claiming seven lives and injuring 17 others.
The team had also directed the taluka council administration to send the samples of material used in the construction of Sajjad plaza to Karachi for testing. kidnap victim: A villager, who was kidnapped by armed dacoits from near Pano Akil six days ago, reached home on Sunday.
