ATTOCK, Jan 3: Bodies of the five alleged kidnappers who were killed in police operation and buried unclaimed a week ago were handed over to their relatives after their exhumation on the court order, police sources said.

According to the sources, the bodies of Shakeel, Shehzad, Mohaib Afgani, Shahzaib and Haqnawaz were exhumed at Hazro and handed over to their relatives on the order of the district sessions judge. The relatives took their bodies to their respective native towns for permanent burial.

They were killed at Jatial village in the operation and buried on Sunday by the police with the help of Hazro tehsil municipal administration.

The police had asked their relatives to approach the court to get their bodies.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested a local car dealer of Kamra due to his alleged connection with the kidnappers. The police are also trying to trace their complete network, the sources said.

The woman, who was arrested in the operation, is under investigation.

On contact, District Police Officer (DPO) Fakhar Sultan Raja confirmed the handing over of the bodies to their relatives. He said an investigation team was busy in collecting details and record about the kidnappers from other police stations, including Taxila, Wah and Rawalpindi, where they had kidnapping some people for ransom and had also been involved in other crimes.

PROCESSIONS’ SCHEDULE: The DPO has directed the sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) and stations house officers (SHOs) to inform the officials of the Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (Iesco) about the schedule of processions and Majalis in their respective areas to avoid or reduce power loadshedding for their smooth proceedings.
