Kasab’s remand extended

MUMBAI, Feb 2: An Indian court on Monday extended the detention of the lone surviving gunman captured during the deadly attacks on Mumbai so that he could be questioned further, a senior police officer said.

The officer in charge of the investigation, Mumbai Police crime branch chief Rakesh Maria, told AFP that a judge had granted a police request to hold Mohammed Ajmal Amir Iman – also referred to as Kasab – until Feb 13.

Kasab has been in custody since Nov 26, the first night of the 60-hour siege of Mumbai.
