KARACHI, Dec 30: Eight ships carrying imported wheat, jute bags and to load cement and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where seven ships, including two bulk carriers, Al-Aqeela-1 and Clementine berthed on Tuesday. Others which also got berths included Mol Admiration, Sima Sahba, Montania and Deja Bhum.

Five ships, Al-Marwah, Aquastar, Csav Laja, Pac Antlia and Dagmar departed on Tuesday, while Leader-1, Montania, Sima Sahba, Deja Bhum, Oriental Tulip, APL Topaz, Andreas-K, Abtub-1, and Sargodha are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was relatively slow owing to lesser handling of liquid tonnage and fell to 75,642 tons, comprising 32,876 tons of export tonnage including 3,506 tons of rice and 8,405 tons of cement and 42,766 tons of import cargo. The following ships are due on Wednesday: Captain Yamntel, with 34,990 tons of wheat, Banglar Mookh, with 9,376 tons of jute bags, Adriatic Arrow, to load cement, Oel Transworld, TS Xingang, Hyundai Duke, with containers, Gulf Tiger, with highspeed diesel and Lalazar, with crude oil.
