GUJRANWALA, Dec 29: Four passengers were injured in a stampede that followed a fire in a locomotive of Margala Express at the Kamoke railway station on Monday.

The fire suddenly erupted in the locomotive of Margala Express which was heading towards Lahore from Rawalpindi. The fire created panic among passengers that led to a stampede.

Consequently, four passengers sustained injuries. On receiving information, a Rescue 1122 team rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. The reason for fire was stated to be the result of some fault in the locomotive.

KILLED: A matric student died after falling into a six-foot deep ditch dug up by Wasa for repairing a defective sewerage pipeline in Mughal Chowk in National Town on Monday.

Reports said the bicycle of Almasoom slipped off the road and he fell into the ditch. He sustained serious injuries and was shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore, where he could not survive.

Heirs and the area people protested against the negligence of Wasa officials who did not properly cover the ditch. They demanded that officials responsible for carelessness should be taken to task.
