Recognition of national rights urged

Published December 30, 2008

QUETTA, Dec 29: The Jeay Sindh Mahaz has said that Pakistan is a multi-nation state and the government should recognise the national rights of Sindhi, Baloch, Pakhtun and Seraeki people to steer the country out of the political and constitutional crises.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, JSM convener Abdul Khaliq Junejo said that denial of the rights promoted religious extremism and protected the interest of the United States in the region.

He said the resources of Sindh, Balochistan and Pakhtunkhwa had been plundered over the past 61 years and the denial of rights was the root cause of the conflict between the establishment and the people of smaller provinces.

DEMONSTRATION: The Kaloi tribesmen from Bolan district held a demonstration on Monday in protest against an agreement signed by the government with the PPL for oil exploration in their area without informing them about its terms and conditions.

The tribesmen, led by Mir Sona Khan Rind, assembled outside the press club.
