OKARA, Dec 28: At least 1,400 bags of urea fertilizer recovered from the godown of a fertilizer dealer on Sunday were sold to farmers at the controlled rates.

Reports said that district officer agriculture Maqbool Ahmad Zaqa raided the godown of fertilizer dealer Ahmed and seized urea bags which he later sold to farmers at Rs660 per bag.

Mr Zaqa told reporters that agriculture officers and field assistants were supervising the sale of urea fertilizer throughout the district. He said that 42 cases had so far been got registered against the black- marketers while Rs725,000 fine was charged from them.
