QUETTA, Dec 28: The Bolan Mail escaped what could have been a serious accident after a portion of the main railway track linking Quetta with the rest of the country was blown up near Spezand, some 30km from here on Sunday.

According to sources, a bomb planted on the track to blow up the Bolan Mail coming from Karachi, exploded when the train was about to reach Spezand.

Police said that the rear bogie of the train was damaged.

Railway officials said no one was injured, but a portion of the track had been damaged.

The Karachi-bound Bolan Mail could not leave Quetta, while the Jaffar Express coming from Rawalpindi was stopped at Kolpur.

The rail traffic was restored late in the evening after the track was repaired.

WOMAN, SON HURT: In another blast in Killi Chashma Achuzai, a locality in the outskirts of Quetta, a woman and her four-year son were injured.

“It was a toy bomb found by the boy outside his house,” police said. It exploded inside the house.

The woman identified as Raham Bibi and her son as Murtaza were taken to hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.

In another incident, a house was attacked with a grenade in the Sui area of Dera Bugti.

PIPELINE BLOWN UP: A pipeline was blown up on Sunday, suspending the gas supply to Sui purification plant from Pirkoh field.

“A five-foot piece of the pipeline was blown up in the blast,” official sources said.

KIDNAPPED: Armed men kidnapped a son of a pro-government elder of the Bugti tribe in Talimat area of Sui tehsil of Dera Bugti on Sunday evening.

Sources said that Abdul Hakim, son Wadera Shah Noor Mandrani Bugti, was going home when the armed men intercepted his vehicle and took him and his two friends away.

Two other people, Shaikh Asif and Shahzad, who were carrying poultry to Sui from Kashmore, were also kidnapped.
