Nasir, Robin top STA rankings

KARACHI, Dec 27: Up and coming Nasir Mushtaq and Robin Das jointly topped annual ranking of the Sindh Tennis Association (STA) released by the body on Saturday.

The two players secured 80 points apiece by dominating the men’s singles event in some half-a-dozen Sindh ranking competitions.

M. Abdul Saeed finished runner up with 75 points while seasoned Yasir Khan and Asfand Rauf seized the following two spots with 70 and 55 points respectively.

Eman Malik jumped to the top in the ladies singles pushing former national hard court champion, Seher Khwaja, to second place.

The former amassed 110 points as against the latter’s 105. Eman also topped the girls U-17 with 100 points.

The juniors U-17 witnessed a marked decline in the performance of Syed Zuhair Raza who ended up fourth with 70 points. Omer Shahid (120), Mustafa Zaidi (105) and Talha Saeed (100) grabbed the top three positions.

However, Mustafa Zaidi finished on top in boys U-15 securing 100 points beating Adil Kohari (95), Nameer Shamsi (80) and Yayha Essa (75).

The top slot in boys U-13, boys and girls U-11 and boys U-9 went to Talha Zuabir Surmawala (80), Fraz Faiz (75) and M. Raza Sawani (115) respectively.
