Shujaat’s call for unity

Published December 28, 2008

LAHORE, Decr 27: PML-Q president Ch Shujaat Hussain has said the country is passing through a very critical situation and all the political forces should unite to face it “instead of living in their own ego”.

In a statement here on Saturday, Shujaat said “the two bigger parties were in power and they should take an initiative to start a dialogue with other parties on all national issues, especially the present situation. He said it was surprising that one party (PML-N) was part of the government while at the same time it was in the opposition. “It should decide either to sit on the opposition benches or be the part of the government.”

He said Benazir Bhutto’s death was a loss for the people of Pakistan. “Her death was the death of leadership in the country,” he said.

‘A TRAGEDY’: The death of Benazir Bhutto was a great tragedy for the nation.

Punjab Revenue Minister Haji Muhammad Ishaq expressed these views while addressing a candle-lit ceremony and Quran Khawani held on the first death anniversary of Benazir at People’s Secretariat here on Saturday.

A large number of people and PPP activists attended the function.

Ishaq said Benazir Bhutto was popular not only in Pakistan but the international community also paid heed to her views.
