LAHORE, Dec 27: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday peace would be ensured at all cost during Muharram and announced the formation of a cabinet committee for adopting necessary measures.
The chief minister, according to a handout, was addressing members of provincial assembly hailing from DG Khan Division at his secretariat here. The meeting also reviewed in detail progress on various development projects initiated for public welfare in the division.
Senior adviser Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, provincial minister Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa, Malik Ahmed Ali Olakh and Khawaja Ahmed Hassan were also present on the occasion.
The chief minister stressed upon people of all schools of thought to ensure unity in their ranks by setting aside their petty differences. He said the cabinet committee headed by Sardar Zufliqar Ali Khan Khosa would monitor the situation in the province.
He said all provincial ministers would perform their duties in their respective districts. He asked all elected MNAs and MPAs to ensure their presence in their constituencies and extend cooperation to the administration in maintaining law and order.
The chief minister said though the law and order situation had improved in some districts, he was not yet satisfied with the overall (law & order) situation in the province.
On complaints of absence of teachers from schools in backward areas, the chief minister said that priority would be given to local people during recruitment of teachers so that the presence of teachers could be ensured in such schools.
Talking about the Food Support Programme, Shahbaz Sharif said that only deserving people should benefit from this scheme.
He also stressed upon all elected members to conduct survey of their respective areas and inform the government regarding the lack of facilities in hospitals and educational institutions as well as other matters and take active part in it.
Shahbaz Sharif also ordered formulation of a committee headed by minister for local government which would review various development projects and remove hurdles.
He said that the meeting of this committee would be held twice a month and he himself would preside a meeting of this committee once a month.
He also ordered constitution of a committee headed by Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa which would present its proposals by Jan 30 for improving hill torrents course in DG Khan division.
He approved the formulation of another committee headed by Khosa and comprising elected representatives of the area, home secretary and IGP for reviewing the matters of the border military police (BMP).
Taking strict notice of aerial firing in a marriage ceremony at Rajanpur in the presence of a DSP, the chief minister issued orders for suspension of the DSP concerned as well as DDO(R) of tehsil Chaubara for showing negligence in discharging their duties.
He also approved various projects presented by the MPAs during the meeting.
