KARACHI, Dec 26: Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza has asked the inspector-general police of Sindh to ensure foolproof security throughout the province on first death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto on Dec 27.

He issued these instructions while reviewing the security arrangements made for Dec 27 on Friday.

He said that security arrangements should be made in accordance with the instructions laid down in the “Blue Book” to tackle any eventuality.

The home minister also directed the regional police officer of Sukkur to maintain close liaison with the provincial police force, Rangers, and other regional police forces and National Highway & Motorway Police so that safe and uninterrupted passage could be provided to the people visiting Ghari Khuda Baksh to pay respects to their slain leader.

He also directed the placement of a comprehensive command and control system having senior police representation at the regional level.

The command and control system should be well versed in implementing the contingency plan in case of any untoward incident and in spelling out the role of each and every sector commander, he said.

The home minister directed that the control and command system must be linked with closed-circuit TV cameras to enable a senior officer to identify any potential trouble.

Dr Mirza called for strict compliance with the security directives and made it clear that laxity or dereliction in this regard shall not be countenanced.—APP
