SAHIWAL, Dec 25: Revenue and agriculture officials on Thursday seized 15,000 fertiliser bags from a warehouse on GT Road and arrested the warehouse manager.

The market value of 10,000 urea bags and 5,000 DAP bags seized during the raid on Azhar Farm on Green Dairy premises is Rs21.67 million. The warehouse belongs to Mian Azhar, the owner of Azhar Farm. Azhar fled during the raid, but his manger Mirza Farooq was arrested.

Ghala Mandi police have registered a case against Azhar and Farooq. An official said all warehouse owners were bound to inform agriculture officials about their stocks, but Azhar did not do so. Revenue officials also raided a fertiliser shop in Dadra Bala, Harrapa, on Wednesday afternoon and fined the dealer for selling urea at inflated rates.

The raid was conducted after farmers complained that dealer Farooq Dadra was selling urea bag at the rate of Rs870 per bag instead of Rs667.

DDOR Muhammad Amin Awasi said Dadra had been imprisoned for one month and a Rs45,000 fine was imposed on him.
