SUKKUR, Dec 20: The Sindh local government department’s audit wing taking notice of illegal and out-of-turn promotions in the city taluka municipal administration has directed the taluka nazim to cancel those promotions immediately.

According to well-placed sources, assistant director, local government fund audit, Sindh, has written a letter to the taluka nazim in which the official has pointed out promotions of 80 employees of the taluka council, which according to him were done illegally and in violation of the standing rules.

Sources claimed that Taluka Municipal Officer Allah Dino Chachar before his retirement in Nov 2008 had ordered promotion of 80 employees without observing rules and regulations.

When this correspondent contacted Taluka Nazim Mohammad Naeem Siddiqui, he said that the promotions were justified and were done by the departmental promotion committee after observing standing rules and regulations therefore; there was no question of cancellation of the promotion orders.
