FAISALABAD, Dec 18: The printing presses will have to submit certificates to the police department ensuring that the religious material fanning hatred of any degree will not be produced in Muharram.
City Police Officer Ahmed Raza Tahir said this while talking to reporters at the Police Lines here on Thursday.
He said police would ask the owners of houses en route the Muharram procession that no armed men, weapons and bricks should be at their residences.
The CPO said that property dealers would also furnish certificates wherein all details about their clients would be given.
He said that 33 clerics of the national fame and 43 locals belonging to different sects had been banned and mechanism had been evolved to maintain peace in Muharram.
Members of the district peace committee, he said, had also been consulted on Muharram arrangements, and four companies of the army -- two for Faisalabad city and one each for Jaranwala and Tandlianwala -- would assist the local police.
The CPO said that police had been doing its utmost to protect the life and property of the people. He said the police had killed 12 criminals in five different shootouts during the last one-and-a-half-month.
Besides, he said the nine gangs involved in dacoities, robberies, car-snatching and other heinous crimes were arrested.
He said the police had also apprehended 190 proclaimed offenders and 140 court absconders.

Justice M.A Shahid Siddique (retired) said this while addressing members of the district bar association at the Kiyani Hall here on Thursday. DBA president Nasir Ali and scores of bar members were also present.
Justice Siddique said the legal fraternity was not struggling for the political gains but for the supremacy of judiciary.
He said lawyers had awakened the masses and ousted former president Pervez Musharraf who made judges of apex courts non-functional.
Lawyers would not shun their struggle and arrange a long march for the restoration of the deposed chief justice.
Regarding the issue of Farah Hameed, daughter of Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, he said the latter had misused his powers.
Meanwhile, the DBA members in a general house meeting have extended membership to the Iraqi journalist, Muntazar Al-Mehdi, who threw his shoes on US President George W. Bush during a press conference a couple of days ago. The DBA also announced legal aid for Mr Mehdi.
