KOHAT, Dec 14: Local Taliban burned at least 17 CD shops and a net café in Thall bazaar of Hangu district on late Saturday night.

Officials said that a large number of armed Taliban came in vehicles to the bazaar and began to break locks of the shops. Later, they sprinkled petrol in some of the shops and set them on fire. Sources said that the attackers pulled out goods from some shops and burned them on the road.

The Thall police exchanged fire with the Taliban from the police station located in the bazaar from 1.30am till 3.30am but militants escaped from the area safely.

TWO KILLED: Two persons were killed and two others injured when a Hangu-bound oil tanker fell from the Ustarzai Bridge on Sunday.

Ustarzai police said that the oil tanker fell from the British-era iron bridge, crushing four people, who were passing under the bridge at the time. Two of them died on the spot, while the other two were injured. The deceased were identified as Syed Arab Hussain and Ahmed Ali while the injured were identified as Jamilur Rehman and Majid Ali.

Local people pulled out the bodies and the injured from underneath the tanker and shifted the wounded persons to KDA divisional headquarters hospital in Kohat.

The driver and cleaner of the vehicle escaped after the accident, leaving behind the oil tanker. The vehicle was still lying there as the district administration had no facility to pull it out.

In another road accident, a man and a woman were injured near Ibraheemzai on Sunday. They were identified as Rajab Ali and wife of Ijaz Hussain.
