LANDI KOTAL, Dec 11: A militants was killed and four other were injured when security forces and activists of a banned outfit clashed here on Thursday, officials said. Forces also captured four vehicles from the militants.

Sources said that armed activists of the banned outfit, Lashkar-i-Islam, were coming towards Landi Kotal bazaar in four vehicles when personnel of the Khyber Rifles tried to block their entry in the town.

Both sides started firing at each others which continued for more than two hours. Officials said that one militant was killed and four others sustained injuries in the clash. A leader of the banned group also confirmed death of his colleague.

Sources said that militants left behind four vehicles and managed to escape. The security forces took four vehicles in their custody. Security has been beefed up in the town after the incident.

The group has extended its activities to Landi Kotal subdivision after Bara and Jamrud subdivisions of Khyber region.
