KARACHI, Dec 7: Several localities of Malir have been without water for several days owing to the sudden suspension of tanker service operation.

Office-bearers of the Kausar Town Welfare Society, Malir, in a statement, have expressed their serious concern over the acute shortage of water on the eve of Eidul Azha, and appealed to the authorities concerned to take immediate action in this regard.

They said that the localities had already been facing acute water shortage for long but the residents of the area had been meeting their water requirement through the tanker service operating from the Jamia Millia Hydrant. They said the tanker service had been suspended all of a sudden, reportedly after default on payment of dues by the tanker operators.

They urged the city government, water board and other authorities concerned to look into the matter and ensure resumption of the tanker service before Eid.—Staff Reporter
