Workers rally

TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 6: A large number of brick kiln workers, including three unionists from Sweden, took out a rally on Saturday and blocked traffic on Toba-Jhang Road for the acceptance of their demands.

The rally was led by Labour Party Pakistan central leader Farooq Tariq, federation of trade unions leader Yousaf Baloch, Bhatta Mazdoor Union central president Mahmood Malik, National Workers party leader Rana Azam and local labour leaders Tariq Mahmood and Riaz Masih.

Three trade union leaders from Sweden -- Kent Sund, Margreta Brun and Eva Lott -- also participated in the rally. The protesters blocked traffic for over half an hour on Toba-Jhang Road where a minor scuffle took place between policemen and some workers. However, traffic was restored later on.—Correspondent
