TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 5: District and sessions judge Jalaluddin Akbar directed on Friday former district nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq to reply to a show-cause notice by Dec 15 in a petition to forfeit the Rs5 million bail bonds he had furnished in a two-hour protective bail granted to district naib nazim Chaudhry Khalid Sardar on Saturday last.Ashfaq appeared before the court to defend the petition filed by Chak Jhumra police against him under Section 514 of the Cr.P.C.

Sub-inspector Faryad Ali Cheema, the complainant, had submitted that Sardar, who was granted protective bail for two hours, was directed by the court to appear before the Faisalabad sessions judge in a murder case, but he did not turn up there within stipulated time. The complainant sought action against Ashfaq, who was Sardar’s surety.

The court directed Ashfaq to explain as to why Sardar did not show up at the Faisalabad sessions court at the time fixed by the court.
