JHANG, Dec 4: The brothers of Ziaullah, alias Badshah, killed by police in an alleged encounter on Nov 21, have demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident.

Attaulla and Sanaulla told reporters on Wednesday that their brother was neither a proclaimed offender nor wanted by police in any case. Attaullah said police had exhibited “police terrorism” in his brother’s murder. He said his brother was killed in a “staged” encounter.

He said his brother had gone to the house of Noor Muhammad in Chak Nasrana to get his money from him. As he was sitting in the guestroom with another man there, police raided the house and started firing indiscriminately.

Later, police broke into the house and arrested his brother and the other man without any provocation. They were bundled into a police vehicle in the presence of hundreds of residents of Nasrana village.

Later, the family came to know from eyewitnesses that their brother and the other person, identified as Azad, were taken to Chak 234-GB, 12 kilometre from Chak Nasrana. There police fired volley of bullets at both arrested men leaving them dead.

They urged the chief minister to take action against Abdul Raza, the Langrana station house officer, and other police personnel involved in the cold-blooded murder.

CASE AGAINST COPS: A murder case was registered against sub-inspector Faizul Hasan Jappa and his two brothers for allegedly killing union council secretary Ahmad Ali in Chak 125 on Wednesday.

The nephew of the deceased was also injured in the shooting and is being treated in Allied Hospital in Faisalabad.

Dawn learnt Jappa and his nephew were on their way to Chak 125 from Chiniot on a motorcycle. When they arrived at the village, the accused hiding in a nearby sugarcane field fired at them with automatic weapons.
