KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3: Malaysia said on Wednesday it expects to be cleared of any links with the deadly terrorist attacks in Mumbai, after reports that some of the gunmen had posed as Malaysian citizens.

“So far I think we have been cleared and Indian authorities have not asserted any concrete things linking this country or our citizens to the happenings in Mumbai,” Foreign Minister Rais Yatim told a press conference.

“It is not a very encouraging thing to say another country is involved in one way or another without evidence.” Rais said that Malaysia had cooperated with India in investigating the case, and that reports of any association had been “based largely on suppositions”.

Police chief Musa Hassan had said that Malaysia would work with Interpol to probe the suggestion that some of the attackers posed as Malaysian students, and used Malaysian addresses to rent apartments in Mumbai.
