GHALANAI, Dec 2: Three members of a family were killed when a mortar shell hit their house in Chinari area of Mohmand tribal region on Tuesday.

Officials said the place from the shell had been fired could not be ascertained.

Security forces pounded militants’ positions in Qandaharo, Mamad Gat and Darwazgai areas from Frontier Corps camps in Ghalanai, Baidag and Mamad Gat.

Sources said that militants were planning their activities in the region from Qandaharo.

Political tehsildar of Lakaro told Dawn the house hit by the shell belonged to a man who had shifted to the area about three years ago from Bajaur where he had a dispute with some people.

He and two women of his family were killed and a child was injured.
