DERA GHAZI KHAN, Dec 1: Rivals cut hair of a woman allegedly over a land dispute in Choti Zaireen police precincts.

Talking to reporters at the press club here on Monday, Safia, flanked by activists of non-government orgainsations, alleged that Faiz, Budha, Abid and Aashiq thrashed her and later cut her hair over a land dispute.

She said police were reluctant to arrest the suspects even after registration of a case and instead were pressing her for reconciliation.

She appealed to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to provide her justice.students Protest: Students of the local government college staged a rally here on Monday to protest the alleged thrashing of a student by some transporters.

The protesters blocked Dera-Jampur Road and chanted slogans against police alleging that they did not take any action on written complaints filed against transporters.

The city police reached the spot and made the demonstrators lift the blockade after two hours.

SALARIES: As many as 80 work-charged employees of the highway department had not been paid their salaries for the last three months.

Many work-charged employees staged a demonstration here on Monday and chanted slogan against Finance and Planning (F&P) EDO Habat Ali Khan for ignoring their demands.

Protesters, including Athar, Ghulam Hasan, Mohammad Iqbal, Ghulam Farid and Riyaz, told Dawn that one of their colleagues had committed suicide owing to a financial crunch. They demanded registration of a case against the F&P EDO.
