AJK assembly to meet on 4th

Published December 1, 2008

MUZAFFARABAD, Nov 30: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Raja Zulqarnain Khan has summoned the Legislative Assembly session on Thursday to fulfil a constitutional requirement whereby the house must meet once in three months.

The session to be presided over by Speaker Shah Ghulam Qadir is feared to witness hostilities in the wake of ongoing political crisis in the region that has also led to the split of Muslim Conference into Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan and Raja Farooq Haider-led factions.

A ‘forward bloc’ comprising 10 members of the ruling parliamentary party, including the speaker and six ministers, supports the stance of Mr Haider-led faction and has vowed to oust the incumbent premier with the help of “other likeminded colleagues and opposition parties.”
