Venkatesha wins title for India

ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: Venkatesha Poojashree from India lifted the singles title defeating Kim Hae-Sung of Korea in the first ITF Pakistan Women Future Tennis Circuit played at the PTF Tennis Complex on Saturday.

In the first set, Venkatesha took initial 2-1 lead by playing some powerful ground strokes but Kim bounced back to level the score 6-6.

In the tie-break, Kim took 6-2 lead and had four set points but Venkatesha playing excellent game equalled the score 6-6.

The Indian struck a number of good cross-shots from mid of the court, winning the tie-break 10-8 and thus the set 7-6.

In the second set, the Korean took 3-1 lead but Venkatesha came back strongly to win the set 6-4 and the final.

The winner received US$1,568 while Kim pocketed US$980.

Result (final):

Venkatesha Poojashree (India) bt Kim Hae-Sung (Korea) 7-6(8), 6-4.
