ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: A sub-inspector of the capital police was booked for not paying rent of a car he hired from a showroom, police said here on Saturday.

The case was registered by the Shalimar police on the complaint lodged by Syed Kazim Raza, owner of rent-a-car business located at F-10 Markaz.

Mr Raza in his complaint stated that the SI got a car from his showroom on rent Rs18,000 per month six months ago. However, he had not paid the rent and also refused to return the vehicle, he alleged.

The police registered a case on the charge of PPC 406; punishment for criminal breach of trust.

The SI is deployed at the Diplomatic Protection Depart-ment. Earlier, he was serving with the Islamabad Traffic Police when he got the vehicle on rent. The SI was transferred to the Police Lines Headquarters from the ITP five months ago as a punishment as he had been frequently absent from the duty. Later, he succeeded to get him transferred at the DPD.

The police said the investigation officer sought permission of the senior superintendent of police to take action against the accused. He will interrogate and arrest the sub-inspector after the approval of the SSP the police said. However, he took bail before arrest from the court of law, the police added.—Staff Reporter
