Bullet injury claims woman

LAHORE, Nov 27: A woman received a bullet injury in her bedroom in Canal View Housing Society and later died at hospital on Thursday.

The husband of 25-year-old Sadaf, of Garhi Shaho, was asleep in bedroom at the time of the incident, Hanjarwal DSP Sheikh Abid told Dawn.

The in-laws said Sadaf was a mentally-challenged woman and she had shot herself dead. They said she was under treatment of Dr Haroon.

Sadaf was married to Ijaz four months ago. She went to her parents’ house two months ago after quarrelling with her husband, the DSP quoted in-laws of the victim as having said.

The victim’s sister, whose name could not be ascertained, said Sadaf and she visited the in-laws on Thursday.

“I heard gunshot while coming to the bedroom of Sadaf and found her in a pool of blood,” police quoted her as saying.

The DSP said Sadaf received a bullet in her left side of skull and died at Jinnah Hospital.

He said the police had registered a murder case against the victim’s husband who went missing from the house.

The DSP said the autopsy report would be helpful in days to come.

PRISONER DIES: A 35-year-old prisoner died at Kot Lakhpat Jail.Sub-Inspector of Kot Lakhpat police Sarwar said Musafir Khan, of Peshawar, was jailed for narcotics-related crimes in 2002. Musafir was tubercular and had twice been admitted to Gulab Devi Hospital in the past.

On Thursday, Khan felt some pain in chest in his barrack and was shifted to the jail hospital where he expired.

He said the body had been shifted to the city morgue for legal formalities.

SUICIDE: A mother of seven allegedly committed suicide over some family dispute in Kot Abdul Malik near Shahdara on Thursday.

An Edhi official said Safia, 45, was brought to Mayo Hospital by her family in unconscious state where she expired.

He said the woman had reportedly consumed poison after quarrelling with her husband over some family dispute.

ACCIDENT: A 24-year-old motorcyclist was knocked down and killed by a speeding truck on Ravi Bridge on Thursday.
