KARACHI, Nov 26: The Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday made it clear that giving official recognition to the ‘rebel’ Indian Cricket League will not be on the agenda when PCB chairman Ejaz Butt meets BCCI president Shashank Manohar early next month.

“Basically the purpose of Ejaz Butt going to India is to hold one to one dialogue with the BCCI president, which is very important for us. The ICL is not part of the discussions,” one PCB official said.

The PCB has sent a request to their Indian counterparts to arrange a meeting between Butt and the BCCI president on December 3 to discuss Team India’s forthcoming tour to the trouble-torn country.

During the meeting, Butt would discuss the issue of revising itinerary for the tour as Rawalpindi, which was due to host a Test and a One-dayer, had now been dropped as a venue because of incomplete construction works, the official said.

Even if Butt fails to visit India for any reason, he would meet the BCCI officials in Colombo, where the Asian Cricket Council meeting is scheduled on December 5, he added.

Due to volatile situation in the country, India’s tour of Pakistan, which is scheduled from January 3, is currently hanging fire.

Pakistan considers the series highly important and sources said Interior Ministry officials had assured an Indian delegation that the government would provide full-proof security covers to Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men during the tour.—Agencies
