3 injured in mosque attack

KHAIRPUR, Nov 26: Three people were injured in a mosque when armed men opened fire on them in the Luqman area here on Wednesday.

As some people were present in a mosque at Hussaini Chowk, unidentified people opened fire on them from outside, injuring Hakeem Mukhtiar, Ghulam Qambar and Imran.

They were taken to the Khairpur Civil Hospital where they were admitted.

As the news spread in the city, traders closed their shops in fear. A heavy contingent of police reached the place of incident to control the situation.

No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.

PASSENGER, ROBER KILLED: A passenger of a coach was killed in the firing of robbers and a robber was killed in police firing on the National Highway near here on Tuesday night.

When a Muzafargarh-bound coach from Karachi reached near Waris Gambhir village in the jurisdiction of the B-section police, around 10 armed robbers tried to intercept it.

As the driver did not stop the coach, the robbers opened fire, killing a passenger, Rustam Ali, son of Ghous Bux Jatoi, 20, resident of Qadirpur, Muzafargarh district, on the spot.

Meanwhile, a police patrol party reached the place of the incident and exchanged fire with the robbers which lasted for one hour.

One robber was killed in the encounter.
