ATTOCK, Nov 26: Police Training Schools (PTS) has disqualified 69 police constables of Attock district in the last leg of their six months training and sent them back to the district police headquarters Attock for further action in this regard, it has been learnt.
The sources said that two batches of about 1317 police recruits had been sent in April and May 2008 to the PTS Rawat (Rawalpindi) and Sargodah for the training.
When they entered the last leg of their training, the administration of both training schools found 69 recruits unfit for the job and informed the district police headquarters Attock and others quarters concerned of the central Police office Lahore for necessary action in this regard, sources informed. The administrations of the schools also dismissed 139 recruits due to absenteeism and misconduct during the training while 1178 police constables assumed their duties some days back after completing their training, they said.
The sources said that how 69 candidates were declared fit in medical test when they did not fulfil the mandatory minimum height of 5 foot 7 inches and minimum chest size of 33 inches.
The sources expressed the hope that besides dismissing the disqualified recruits the authorities concerned would initiate a high level inquiry into the whole episode. The district police officer Attock Fakhar Sultan Raja confirmed that the district police headquarters had received the letter from the authorities of Police training schools, and the matter would be decided in next few days in this regard.
On query, the DPO Mr Raja explained that all disqualified police recruits are still in service.
