Kid joins mother in jail

LAHORE, Nov 24: The youngest of the six children who fled to Edhi Homes in Township on Sunday is now with his mother in Kot Lakhpat jail.

Edhi Centre spokesman Younis Bhatti said the six children were taken to meet their detained parents, M Mansha and Nasreen Bibi, on Monday afternoon. The visit had been arranged by Punjab Prisons Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor.

Nasreen Bibi was asked whether she would like to keep all her children with her, but she refused, saying that a prison was not a good place for them to stay in. Instead, she said the children could stay with their grandmother. The minister also offered to allow the children to stay at his home.

No contact was made with the grandmother and the children instead opted to stay at the Edhi Homes together.

Ghafoor stated that efforts were being made to get Nasreen Bibi released but her husband Mansha, facing a kidnap case, might not be freed.

Mansha’s brother Abdullah remains a fugitive. Younis Bhatti said he attempted to visit the children at Edhi Homes but later fled the scene.
