Two POs killed in ‘shootout’

JHANG, Nov 22: Two proclaimed offenders (POs) were killed in an alleged shootout with police near Nasrana village in Chiniot tehsil’s Langrana police precincts on Friday.

According to police sources, Bhowana and Langrana SHOs received information that PO Azad, alias Azada, was present at the outhouse of his friend, Badshah Lak, also a PO, in the outskirts of Nasrana village on which a joint team raided the outhouse.

The outlaws opened fire which was retaliated by the police and both Azad and Badshah were killed in the ensuing shootout while their two accomplices fled.

DPO Javed Islam told Dawn that Azad was ringleader of his gang consisting of eight to ten culprits wanted in several cases of murder, dacoity and robbery.

KILLED: A 25-year-old man was shot dead by robbers in Warrispura locality of Chiniot city on Friday. Four robbers entered Nadeem Faqir’s house and took the family members hostage. When Nadeem offered resistance, the robbers shot at him, killing him on the spot, and fled.
