LAHORE, Nov 21: Wapda lost early goal advantage to draw 1-1 with NBP at the Railway Stadium, Lahore, while Punjab Medical College (PMC) and Pak Steel were locked in a 0-0 draw at the PMC Ground, Faisalabad, in the two Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches played on Friday.
Wapda, who started the game with Qamar Zaman, Arif Mahmood and Imran Niazi marshalling the frontline were the first to score. Niazi and midfielder Mahmood Ali opened the space for spearhead Arif Mahmood, who ran up and lobbed the ball angularly over the advancing keeper Amir in the 16th minute. NBP’s coach Nasir Ismail was furious with Amir’s display and asked the reserve goalkeeper Yasir bin Younus to warm up. But later on he changed his mind and decided to stick with Amir. Wapda led 1-0 at the interval.
The NBP were the better outfit in the second session but they could only utilise one of their five sure chances. That goal came in the 62nd minute when midfielder Mohammad Jamil scooped the ball into Wapda’s area and Aziz fired it into the left corner to make it 1-1.
Saturday’s fixtures: PTV v Afghan FC at PSB Ground, Islamabad; Army v KESC at Army Stadium, Rawalpindi; KRL v KPT at KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi. Matches kick off at 3.00pm.—Agencies
