LAHORE, Nov 21: The oil, gas and petroleum ministry and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) authorities have been urged to re-consider the proposed loadsheding of gas for industrial consumers as it would have negative effect on production.
Talking to a delegation of industrialists here on Friday, Muhammad Yawar Irfan Khan, who is chairman of Punjab Chief Minister's Task Force on Industrial Development and SMEs, said the ministry and the SNGPL should manage gas production and distribution in such a manner that there was no need to unnecessarily disturb industrial consumers.
The industry was already facing a lot of other crisis, he said and added that loadshedding of gas under present circumstances would affect production and exports adversely. He said closure of certain units for three months due to gas loadshedding would result in increase in unemployment.—Reporter
