GUJRANWALA, Nov 21: The body of a youth who died in Saudi Arabia after falling from a building during work reached his home in Ghakhar Town on Friday, two months after his death because of complicated Saudi laws.
Farrukh Nazir went to Saudi Arabia for work a few months ago. He was fitting a pipe at a building in Damam when he fell and died. Farrukh’s father Nazir Ahmad died when he heard about his son’s death.
Separately, the body of another youth, Javed Sikandar Dar, reached his house in Ghakhar, 15 days after his death. Dar, son of hockey empire Sikandar Hayat Dar, died in Saudi Arabia in a road accident.
INJURED IN FIRE: A woman and her two minor children suffered burn injuries when a fire erupted in their kitchen because of gas leakage in Samanabad.
Mrs Arif was preparing breakfast for her children when the fire erupted. As a result, she and her children Samina and Muneeb were injured. They were taken to a hospital where their condition was said to be critical.
CONVICTED: An anti-terrorism court on Friday sentenced Muhammad Asif to death and slapped a Rs200,000 fine on him for a double murder.
According to the prosecution, Asif killed his brother Amir and his wife Shagufta over a property dispute in Akram Colony on April 28.
ATC judge Mian Muhammad Shafi also sentenced Asif to six-year imprisonment and Rs8,000 fine over other offences. He will have to remain in jail for another nine months if he fails to pay the fine.
