RAWALPINDI, Nov 21: Two officials of Rawalpindi police were suspended and booked on robbery charges on Friday, police said.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Nasir Khan Durrani ordered the arrest as well as registration of a criminal case against the two police constables, Rashid Minhas and Mohammad Nauman.

Mohammad Sajid, a resident of Dewal Sharif, had lodged a complaint with RPO Nasir Khan Durrani, alleging that he was heading home when some men intercepted him and snatched his mobile phone. He said later his friend identified the persons as police constables posted at Saddar Bairooni police station.

Later he reported the matter to the police station concerned but no action was taken.

On this complaint, RPO Nasir Khan Durrani entrusted the matter to SSP/RIB Rawalpindi and asked him to hold an inquiry. After the completion of the investigation it was confirmed that constables Rashid Minhas and Mohammad Nauman were involved in the crime.

The regional police officer, Rawalpindi, then ordered registration of criminal case against both the constables and also suspended them. Nasir Khan Durrani has also directed the local police to arrest them immediately.
