QUETTA, Nov 17: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan will succeed in overcoming the current economic crisis with the help of friendly countries.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said the government was striving to meet the challenge by adopting a better economic strategy and curtailing “unnecessary” expenditures.

Responding to a question, Mr Gilani said: “The government will accept any decision taken by parliament about deposed chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.”

He said that immediately after coming into power the PPP-led government had started a reconciliation process for resolving the Balochistan issue. The problem, he added, would be solved in consultation with elected representatives.

Answering anther question, he said that assistance provided by friendly countries would be spent only on rehabilitation of quake survivors.

“The government will give Rs50,000 to a family which wanted to move to Sibi or Harnai for spending the winter,” he said.

When his attention was drawn to blocking of transmission of two private channels in some parts of Sindh, he said he would order a probe into the matter soon after reaching Islamabad.
