Drive against encroachments

FAISALABAD, Nov 17: Divisional Commissioner Zahid Saeed has ordered an operation against encroachments, and directed all town municipal officers (TMOs) directed to seal all premises built in violation of building codes.

These decisions were taken at a meeting held at commissioner’s secretariat here on Monday with Zahid Saeed in the chair.

The commissioner expressed his concern over the poor performance of TMOs and encroachments in different parts of the district.

He said launching anti-encroachment drive was the need of the hour, and the officials concerned should play their due role in this campaign.

Faisalabad Development Authority Director-General Raja Safdar Husain, District Coordination Officer Saeed Iqbal, all TMOs and other officers attended the meeting.

The commissioner directed TMOs to launch anti-encroachment drive immediately and deal all encroachers without any discrimination and without budging to any sort of pressure.

All attached departments would extend assistance to TMOs to make this operation a success, he said and warned that negligent officers would face the music.

All corrupt, incompetent and negligent building inspectors would be replaced with honest and dedicated ones, he said.

It was decided in the meeting that all TMOs would also improve the condition of public parks gradually.

Every TMO would select one park in his respective area during the first phase and would ensure availability of all facilities in that park.

The commissioner directed ensuring cleanliness, installation of streetlights and renovation of Kaleem Shaheed and Ali Park immediately.
