Parliamentary body holds first meeting

ISLAMABAD, Nov 17: The special parliamentary committee for implementing a resolution adopted by the joint sitting of the two houses of parliament on Oct 22 held its first meeting on Monday.

Leader of the House in Senate Mian Raza Rabbani, was elected chairman of the committee, presented a draft of the rules of business.

Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali Khan and parliamentary leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in the National Assembly Haider Abbas Rizvi did not attend the meeting.

Minister for Information Sherry Rahman told reporters that the committee, to be called the ‘Parliamentary Committee on National Security’, would meet again on Nov 20.

Sources said that several members suggested changes in the terms of reference prepared by Mr Rabbani.
