Depts told to identify uplift projects

FAISALBAD, Nov 16: Punjab government will be approached with multiple suggestions for commencement of much-needed development projects in Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh districts.

Divisional Commissioner Zahid Saeed said this here on Sunday while presiding over a meeting of different departments' officials at his office.

All departments concerned had been asked to prepare such proposals, he said. He said use of substandard material in development works would not be tolerated and contractors would also be bound to complete projects within the stipulated time.

He said a strategy was being devised to speed up the pace of different development projects, and work was underway in this regard. Besides, all officers had been directed to play an active role for timely completion of uplift work, he added.

The commissioner said proposals would be forwarded to the Punjab government pointing out the development projects that would immediately benefit the public. He said the proposals would include health, education, water supply and solid waste management projects.

He said efforts would be made on a priority basis to improve the condition of state-run schools and arrest the sale of spurious medicine. District Coordination Officer Saeed Iqbal briefed the commissioner about different ongoing development projects.—Staff Correspondent
