KARACHI, Nov 14: Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza has directed the police to take action against those involved in putting pressure on police for releasing criminals.

He issued the directive while chairing a meeting held here to review the law and order situation.

The minister asked the CCPO of Karachi for a weekly report about details and statistics of crimes committed in the jurisdiction of each police station, nature of crimes and, modus operandi of culprits so that counter measures could be taken in the light of data.

He referred to a number of incidents of targeted killings in the city and said that it was intolerable that terrorists playing with lives of people were getting off scot-free.

He said police had failed to arrest criminals and were not discharging their duties.

The minister warned the police that if its officers could not produce better results, they should let him know so that they could be replaced with active and efficient police officers.

About the incidents of targeted killing, he ordered proper steps for arresting the suspects nominated in cases and said that care should be taken of all legal aspects in this regard.

He asked the CCPO and other senior police officers to identify black sheep in the force and officials showing partiality and negligence so that action could be taken against them.—APP
