BAHAWALPUR, Nov 12: Local journalists on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration at Farid Gate to condemn the killing of journalist Hafiz Muhammad Shoaib in Swat allegedly by security agencies.

The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) had given the call for protest.

The demonstration was largely participated in by print and electronic media persons and political and legal figures.

The protesters called for action against Shoaib’s killers and protection for journalists working in NWFP and South Waziristan.

CASES: The Anti-Corruption Establishment has registered corruption cases against the Haroonabad tehsil municipal officer and tehsildar, Liaquatpur patwari and Rahim Yar Khan qanongoe.
