LAHORE, Nov 12: The Skill Development Council will organise a workshop on cost reduction and provide management and technical training to industrial units in Gujrat, Wazirabad, Gujranwala and Sialkot.
The decisions to the effect were taken during a series of meetings held between council chief executive officer Saquib Mohyuddin and industrialists during visit to the four cities.
The industrialists were briefed about the consultative services introduced by the council and urged to avail them as these were flexible, demand driven and cost effective.
The industrialists were informed that the SDC-Islamabad was working on micro-entrepreneur skill development initiative for certain export sectors, where managerial and technical training would be given on factory premises by sector experts.
This programme would help build world-class skilled manpower.
The industrialists identified their problems especially in the context of global economic crunch.
They welcomed the initiatives of the council and expressed confidence that they would be able to enhance their competitiveness with the expert assistance of SDC.
