KARACHI, Nov 12: Sixteen Indian fishermen were arrested by the Maritime Security Agency for violating Pakistan’s territorial waters, an MSA spokesperson, Lt-Commander Shakil Ahmed Khan, told Dawn on Wednesday.

He said the arrested fishermen were handed over to the Docks police for further action. They were on board three fishing boats, which were also seized, he added.

The Docks police said that the fishermen were booked for illegally fishing in the Pakistani waters.

470 deported from Muscat

As many as 470 worn-out job seekers arrived here by a launch after having been deported from Oman.

One of the elderly deportees who had suffered a paralysis attack died while being shifted to the Civil Hospital. Later the body of the victim, Imran Ahmed, 58, was sent to his hometown in Lahore.

FIA officials said that the deportees were issued emergency passports by the Pakistani mission in the Gulf state.

They said that they were released after verification of their emergency traveling documents.

The officials said the deportees arrived here by a cargo launch, Al-Wasl.
