Teenaged girl falls prey to karo-kari

SUKKUR, Nov 11: A teenage girl was shot dead by her cousin on the pretext of karo-kari in Khuda Bux Jatoi village near here late Monday night.

Nibhando Kharos shot his 18-year-old cousin Sartaj dead over the suspicion that she had illicit relations with her fiancée Kaloo Jatoi.

On information, the Airport police took the body to the Sukkur Civil Hospital for post-mortem and, on the complaint of girl’s father Nizam Jatoi, registered an FIR against Nibhando. The police arrested the accused on Tuesday.

Nizam told the police that his daughter was engaged to Kaloo and they did not have illicit relations.

Our Khairpur correspondent adds: A young woman was killed on pretext of karo-kari in the Kotdiji area on Tuesday.

Sajid Mahar gunned down his wife Lal Dini alias Shazia, 20, in Faisal Daro Mahar village.

The body was handed over to relatives after post mortem at Kotdiji taluka hospital.

Relatives said that Lal Dini was innocent.

ACCIDENT: A man was killed and his father injured in an accident on National Highway near Karo Ghat in Ghotki district on Tuesday.

Wazir Ahmed Lakhan and his father Karam Ali Lakhan, residents of Mubarak Lakhan village, were going to Ghotki from Mirpur Mathelo on a motorcycle. When they reached near Karo Ghat, a speedy car coming from opposite direction hit their motorcycle as a result both were injured.

The Sarhad police took those injured to the Ghotki taluka hospital where Wazir Ahmed died.

The police have arrested car driver Siddiq and impounded the car but no case was registered till the filing of this report.
